Hiking Lions Head Mountain

After settling in, the Meet & Teach volunteers take a break from workshops and go for a hike up Lion’s Head Mountain. Overlooking the city, Lion’s Head stands 2195 feet above sea level providing a scenic view of nearby Table Mountain, Robben Island, suburban Cape Town, and the Atlantic sea. The mountain takes about 1-2 hours to hike up and down. History suggests that lions, leopards, hyenas, elephants, and hippos occupied the mountain up until the early 1800’s. After reaching the peak, the team spent over a hour admiring the scenery, taking photos, and talking to fellow hikers before heading back down.
